Docs,
Do you recommend using a under armour t shirt under the compression vest? Plain white T-shirt? Just a vest with nothing under it? Im 3 days post op and want to make sure I wear the compression vest the correct way, weather if its just the vest or something underneath it.

I would contact your physician and follow their recommendations. I have found a tee shirt under the compression garment makes things a bit more comfortable for the patient. Specifically a synthetic shirt allows the vest to move or slide more freely and seems to be more comfortable for my patients.Where I work the university teams have a contract with under armour so I piggy back on the arrangement to get some for my patients.

The vest alone is fine, but as Dr. Pensler mentioned, sometimes a t-shirt under the vest is a bit more comfortable, especially for those who experience itching from the vest material.  It will also alleviate the need to frequently wash the vest.

I, too, use an UnderArmour compression shirt.  It makes the vest or binder above it more comfortable.  But it also places the chest tissues in a normal position and it adds a slight amount of compression (to decrease swelling and bruising) as well.
