Okay, so around the time I turned 13 years old noticed that my nipples were protruding and "puffing" out.Went to my doctor and he sent me to a specialist when I was 14. The specialist said that it should go away on its own in 2-3 years and that I have nothing to worry about. I am 18 years old now and am sick of pulling at my shirts, never wearing a t-shirt without being incredibly uncomfortable. It is just the nipple that has enlarged and sticks out. I talked to a plastic surgeon and he said I have 3 options:1)that he can perform a nipple reduction surgery, but it will scar. 2) I can just get a gyno surgery and it will make the nipple protrude less but will remain the same size. or 3) I can live with this for the rest of my life. I would rather not do number 3 as this has affected me mentally a great deal. so I ask this, what should I do? is there any other options such as medications I can take? and is it even gyno or just a fat deposit?  thank you so much for taking the time to read this and providing insight if available.

There is now way we can tell you what you should do! You need to do, what you need to do what is best for you!

Without pictures it is hard for us to give any other advice, but surgery is the only way to get rid of gynecomastia, however, their are some great surgeons that can do really  good work that do specialize in gyne surgery. We have some right here on the forum!

The right doctor can make a world of difference, so maybe you need to see some others! This is a very good place to start, welcome to the forum!

The old answer of "it'll go away in a couple of years." actually works in enough cases that it is still used. That does not work if you have had no change in a couple of years. In that case, surgery is the only way to get rid of it.

You are fortunate to live when the surgery is safe and effective. I was about 50 years old before the modern surgical methods made this true. That would explain part of the reason why you see the condition in so many older men.

Welcome to the forum, it is a pretty friendly place so feel free to ask just about anything that comes to mind.
