Smoking before surgery?

I have the procedure scheduled for 11/20 and haven't been able to stop smoking. Will I be ok for surgery if I stop smoking all together today 11/14? Or should I look at postponing surgery?

Without knowing what sort of procedure is planned, it's tough to comment on how critical it is for you to stop smoking. In patients in whom I do simultaneous peri-areolar skin removal, or in those who require extensive skin removal, smoking would be a problem due to blood supply issues, which could lead to compromise of the nipple or skin flaps.  A procedure that is predominantly liposuction would present less concern.  You should speak to your surgeon.

I have a very minimal case. I am having lipo and excision, but very little fat and gland will be removed. Should I be concerned?
