I do wear shorts with my jobst compression hose and they are black and I'm Caucasian! I've never had any problems or comments about it, but they are not shear at all.

I wonder if wearing the support would help people with " restless leg syndrome" at all? I know a lot of people who have it, but I don't know if anything helps it.

Just a note about sevice. I called the VA on Friday to order my compression hose as it was time, I get 4 pair every 6 months.  UPS had them here on Saturday ! You can't complain about that kind of service!

Sounds like good service! I  am also susceptible to RID. The only thing that I have found that helps that is walking up and down the flight of stairs a few times. That and avoid benadryl. 
For me, the Sheer Energy support hose work great! They cover 100% of my legs and that keeps my varicose veins in check. They aren't a huge expense. I can get them almost anywhere. I usually get at least a dozen wears out of them before they develop a run.

As a 2 class petty officer  Navy Diver, (search & rescue) and my training was taught by a Navy SEAL chief petty officer, this is one thing he didn't talk about!  I'm a post Vietnam veteran (70's), so all my senior petty officers were Vietnam Vets.

I do know that some divers wear them under their wet suits for added warmth.

One of my best friends was in the team's during the war. He was the one who told me. The wet suit thing sounds like a pretty good idea. I wonder if that would also help getting the suit on. I used to surf and had a full custom Bailey wet suit.

I've been told it does, but I've never tried it myself.

I am a retired Navy Chief Petty officer and when I got stationed on a Cruiser here on the East Coast I found out that the winter winds off the Chesapeake Bay were shall we be polite and just say COLD..  The wife suggested that I try wearing panty hose to keep my legs warm.  The military thermal underwear was so bulky you need a size larger pants to button them up.  So I took her advice and then had to wear a girdle to keep them up because I did and do not have a female butt nor waist they were designed to fit.  That lead me into female panties which I found out were much nicer than men's briefs and much less chaffing,  No I wear support thigh highs thanks to my cardiologist.  Funny how things change,

I'm former Navy HT2 and Army 68G20, also ships diver as well. I would highly recommend going to your doctor and getting regular support hose. The VA supplies mine. I'm in 20/30 Jobst thigh high, I get 4 new pair every 6 months and they work great for the reasons I need them, and extra warmth here in Minnesota winters, and don't really bother me that much in the summer, go figure!  The nice thing is, they don't cost me a dime!

P.S. my last duty station in the Navy was a CG in Norfolk VA 1980-1982.

I'm glad to hear another man say that, too! I quit wearing men's briefs a long time ago because they bunched up so much and chafed and started wearing boxers. They just weren't comfortable for me, either, so I gave up wearing underwear and went commando all the time. A few months ago I began having pretty severe pain in my left testicle, and the doc suggested I wear support and see if the pain would go away. Not wanting to repeat the discomfort of men's brief - that never really supported me that well, anyway - I bought a package of women's panties, figuring I was in for a battle with my wife. She reacted so badly to my starting to wear a bra that I expected her to go ballistic about the panties, but to my utter amazement she accepted it right off the bat! My testicle has stopped hurting, but I still wear panties every day. I love how lightweight they are, the way they support me without being too tight, how they feel when I'm wearing them, and I get a kick out of coordinating the color of my panties with my bras.  I have no plans to ever go back to wearing men's underwear![/font][/color]

Gee, I googled Army 68G and it has changed from when I was in or my memory is getting worse! I was in aviation structural repair on helicopters huey's to be exact! 68G has now changed to medical, and that's not my cup of tea!

Hi guys I gave up on mens undies 30 some years ago, the only mens bikinies I have are from Walmart jockey makes string bikinies those are not too bad for Dr underwear otherwise I like the Haynes Xtemp bikini panties .Just the rite amount of support and they breath.

In the Navy I was an HT (Hull maintenance Technician) 2nd class Petty officer, you should know what that was if you are a retired chief petty officer as I was the guy who taught damage control, and fought the fires, did the plumbing as well as any welding. I was also one of the ships search and rescue divers. (Side job)

I also was in the Army, my MOS (Navy rating) aviation structural repair specialist. I worked on hueys and i was just saying that they either changed what the designation 68G was when i was in or I forgot what mine really was. It's like saying you were a CTT Cheif Petty officer,  but there are no more CTTs any more so you are now a CTO! I used CTT because I was a CTT once but I changed due to loss of hearing, part of my disability.

And the ship "CG" was  Guided Missile Cruiser!
