Hello, all. I'm 60, and have been taking Tamsulosin for about a year-and-a-half. I also take meds for diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol control I'm physically active and am in generally good shape. Since March I've lost about 30 pounds. In December I started noticing my breasts were getting larger. I first noticed it when I would be awaken in the night by uncomfortable breasts as I change positions while sleeping. I also began experiencing jiggle while riding in the car and whenever physically active, and irritated nipples from that movement. These bad boys were growing! I started reading about gynecomastia. I tried a compression shirt, which I found hot and uncomfortable. I decided to try a bra, so I read about how to measure. My band measurement is just under 37" while my bust is just over 39". I bought a 38B bra which fit well. I found a sports bra to be the best in terms of comfort and discretion. I will be seeing my physician in a few weeks. I have a few quick questions.
-- Will my breasts continue to grow?
-- If I were to stop taking Tamsulosin, and if it was indeed the culprit, will me breast size reduce, or will my breasts just stop growing?
Thanks!

I have been on Duodart for the last 3 1/2 years, which is a combination of Tamsulosin and Dutasteride, and yes my breasts continue to grow. I believe that the Tamsulosin component is what causes breast growth but may be corrected on that.
I am not sure of my facts here, but I think that after 2 years what you have is permanent. A doctor can answer that question.
I am now around a 38 B/C and hopefully will slow down  but it is what it is. I started wearing a bra about 18 months ago and that has been a huge help.
Hope that this helps you

I'll  be darn, that medication is a generic of flo-max and I've taken one or the other over the years but didn't know that they would have any effect on breast size! I'm in a 46H bra, however I've been in one for years and I lost my testicles before they got that big, so I think that was more the cause!

Every now and then they still get sore as they would when they were growing. When they do I get worried that they are getting bigger! WTF would I do with bigger then 46H breast?

BTW, I'll be 60 on the 22nd of Jan so we are the same age.

Well I am about to turn 75 so I guess I don't have the time left to get to a 46H. Live everyday to the fullest I say and damn the rest!

I had a heart attack at age 37, so now turning 60, having both knees replaced in my 40's, having my 4th back surgery scheduled for Feb 2nd, you will not get any argument from me!  Live it to the fullest every day and don't let the little shit get you down!

I have been on Rheumatoid Arthritis treatment for 35 years, of varying degrees of intensity. The best that I have been on is right now but it plays hell with prostatitis once a month after I have my infusion at the hospital. Duodart helps with that along with antibiotics.
When I started Duodart, the specialist didn't say anything about breast "swelling", though the fact sheet did say that there was a 1 - 1 1/2% chance of swelling. Go figure. My GP said it should be more like a 10% chance of swelling. With all of these drugs it is a lottery.
My thanks to you and all of the others who contribute here. It is a big help. My wife is good about things but other perspectives are really helpful. My thanks to all.

I’m glad we can help each other out.

This forum has been a blessing for many of us men trying to find answers, and finding that we are not alone!  There are a lot of us out there that find the need to understand why suddenly we need a bra to stop all the traffic (jiggles and wiggle as well as all the bouncing) in the front of our chest or others, mostly the younger guys want to find a good surgeon.

We have medications, medical reasons and I think even stuff that is put in the food and the water, may play a role in it sometimes because we have guys who have been on the forum who have not been able to find any answers, as to why they were developing breast, but they were at least able to find out that they were not alone and had support here on the forum!

Hammer—Happy Birthday.  I think we have both reached the age where we wish we could reverse the direction the numbers are going.  Oh to be 18 again and know what we know now.

Thanks! Actually growing old is something that I never have been afraid of, in fact I've been looking forward to age 60, now I'll set my sights on 70!

Its the Dutasteride, nor the Flomax.  I had the misfortune to have liver damage from the Flomax, in 2 weeks it became intolerable.  I'll be 70 in a few days.

Liver function is tested because of the RA drugs, and that looks ok so far. Hope things aren't too bad for you now.
75 on the 30th, never thought I would make it this far.
