Hi

Is there any dangers in using protein shakes/bars etc for post workout supplements that contain soy protein?

I am post op so tiny bit of gland left to prevent nipple crater, but could use of these products create a reoccurrence over time?

Is there any other ingredients or things to be wary of also?

Thanks

Although there is a bit of "bro science" out there that warns of soy protein products causing gynecomastia, I'm not aware of any actual scientific evidence of this.  I suspect it would take a lot of soy protein to lead to estrogen excess if it's even possible.  Use of a variety of protein sources could alleviate your concern.

Thanks Dr. Silverman,

Do you believe using an alternative protein powder such as pea or rice would be a safe option?  I'd be using about three times a week post work out.

My main worry is the remaining gland left behind to prevent cratering getting aggravated again and coming back.

Thanks
