I posted once on this forum months ago but I really need to find out some more specific information now.  I'm an Australian living in Japan in longterm and I really need to find out what surgery I should be going for.  My options are to either have the surgery done here which would require a lot of translation/research prior to consulting a surgeon here (gyno surgery appears to be fairly rare in japan) or else try to arrange time off work to return to Australia for the operation.

as for my stats i'm 6' and currently weigh 215.  As a teenager I went up to 275 but I lost 80 pounds as an adult.  My weight actually ranges from 195-220 depending on my training (weights, kickboxing, judo, BJJ).   at 195 I'm fairly ripped but still have very similar moobs.  I've maintained my weight successfuly in that range for about 5-6 years without any success at removing the breasts so I finally decided to take the plunge with surgery.

I dont think my problem is true gyno but a combination of loose/stretched skin (you can see the stretch marks in the side shots) and some hard to lose fat deposits with possibly some gland material in there too.  Bring ripped would be nice but my real goals are to lose the droppy moobs so I can compete in kickboxing/MMA barechested without embarrasment.

thanks in advance.  any help/advice will be much appreciated.

just some extra information;  my nipples do seem to drop 1-2cm below the line of my pec mucles.  You can just make out the line of the mucles in the 1st picture.  The area below that is quite soft (it almost disappears completely when my arms are up) and doesn't appear to have much hard material inside it although there still some fat.  I'm wondering if I could just get by getting the fat removed via lipo, or if it will be necessary to remove some of the skin as well to actually get the chest to look somewhat normal.

In my opinion, i see 0% of gyne on you. Just looks like you have a big chest thats all.

Im not really an expert and you know your body better than anyone, but your gyne doesnt look glandular just a bit of excess fat which could be remedied by either a strict diet or surgery. If indeed you do only need fat removing then liposuction should suffice and i sure their are many surgeons carrying out that procedure in Japan. If you needed gland removal then a gyne specialist would be in order, but as its likely only fat then im sure any good liposuctioner could do a great job on you. Seems like you are in a good as postion as you could be surgically.

thanks for the replies.

I'm pretty sure its not gyno but just the pseudo form (eg fat and/or loose skin).  When I was 19 I had very large breasts and was worried it was glandular but after my weight loss I realised it was basically just fat.

I've been measured at 11-12% bodyfat when weighing in at 195 (by people with proper training)  but my chest still basically had the same appearance.  There just seems to be some fat that just will not clear up no matter how much I train/diet.   The skin is also pretty loose and droops a lot when I bend over which seems to add the appearance of moobs.

I'm hoping I can just get it cleared up with a small amount of liposuction.  My main concern though is that I will have to have the excess skin removed which would seem like much more invasive/expensive surgery.

does anyone have any experence with losing large amounts of weight and then dealing with loose/stretched skin and leftover fat?

  • there is hope.
remember, everybody's body is different in ways of where they store fat. so what you may be thinking of 'left over fat deposits' may just be the most stubborn fat. for example, in my case it happens to be my lower abs.. i can lose the flab off the upper abs pretty easily, it's just the lower abs that are rather stubborn.. heh,

on side note. since your case is not glandular. i'm sure japan, or korea even have top of the notch plastic surgeons who would be able to give you a better countoured chest. if lipo is all that you're looking for,

thing is no one can tell you from the pics.

honestly i think u have a bit of gland under nips, and mostly fat making them protrude so much.

raise your arm and press hard and feel around for rubbery fiborous stuff.

if u feel it then well u have gyno.  It can be disperesed all over and not be the traditional large round ball in the center.

I'm in a weight-cutting phase now (down to 209 since the photos) and will hopefully be down to 200-205 again in a week or two.  I'm still wondering if lipo will fix my problem at all or if I'll need some type of skin reduction or skin lift surgery.  I don't have any pics of my lighter weight to make a comparison but I'll take some more once I'm back down to 205 again.

still dont know why u r making this so difficult,  Lay down, raise your arm, and feel behinde your nipple.  Trust me you'll know if u are feeling gland or not.

actually i mentioned a couple of times that I'm pretty sure my problem isnt caused primarily by glands.  Sorry I didn't make that clearer.

" if u feel it then well u have gyno.  It can be disperesed all over and not be the traditional large round ball in the center."

there does actually seem to be some dispersed gland around the lower parts and side of my chest.  However I dont feel it is really the cause as there doesnt seem to be that much.  Like I said before my problem is most likely a combination of loose skin (I used to have quite severe stretch marks all over the sides of my chest) and fat.  Even when I've cut down to the 83kg (183~lbs) weight class in judo I still had moobs despite having a visible 6 pack.  Thats why I've been trying to determine what type of surgery might help me despite my belief that I'm not suffering from true gyno.
