Today at a department store I noticed a middle-aged man (customer) in the bra department, taking several bras from the rack, sensing the fabric between his fingers, etc. There was no woman in the department. Perhaps he was looking for himself.
I know that some men choose lingerie gifts for their wives, but without the women trying them on, it doesn't make much sense.

I imagine what might have happened, if I spoke to him "Hi bro, welcome to the club". But of course I didn't.
A bra is just an article of clothing for people with breasts.

Even if unspoken to, I’m sure he felt comfortable and happy having another guy in the aisle with him. Sometimes it’s not the words or gestures we can give to show solidarity and such. But the simple presence of being there as well that makes it a better experience knowing others are in the same boat looking for similar oars to row down the stream of supporting their breasts as well.

Although it would be awkward at first, having a conversation with another male bra shopper would be a good opportunity to share experiences.
If the bra fits, wear it.

I once had a girlfriend who had to use a wheelchair. It was a hassle for her to shop for herself, so I often did it for her. I bought her bras, various clothing and even shoes. The clerk was always the same woman, and she assumed I was buying these things for myself. I was buying white ladies dress shoes one day and she said, "You shouldn't wear white after Labor Day." I thought it was amusing. I thanked her and never told her they weren't for me.

I went for a bra fitting on my own for 4 years ago and I was treated so well.  The fitter was great and helped me select the first 3 bras I owned.  I was a little nervous the first time.  I have no problem walking into any store and buy bras.

If you need a bra you need a bra, it's not as if we are walking around with socks stuffed in our bras is it?

I have walked through the bra department and found the brand and style I was looking for wasn't part of the sale going on.  I decided to leave and continue looking at other stores and sources.  I didn't think anything of it as that is how shopping is done.  To some it may have looked a bit off seeing a man do that but it really isn't.  Last week I saw another man there as well.  Never entered my mind to make conversation, I didn't look to see if it was for him or not either.  We both did our thing.

Curiousk, That is a nice looking bra.  The fit looks good and I can see that it would give a nice smooth look.

I don't know about that, my ex was a 36B and when I bought bras at Victoria's Secret for her she never returned any.

In my case, I'm also a 36B and most brands I have come to prefer I can order online and be pretty certain that they will fit if I order my regular size.

I tried bras on during a bit of a growth spurt a year and a half ago when I went from just some cushion on the chest to definition and mobility in the chest and discomfort warranting a bra. 10 min or so identified my bust line as a 34B and it’s been a perfect fit since I’m trying other bras and brands. I don’t believe trying on is needed if you know your size well. It’s like Nikes and adidas I wear a size 11.5 in nike and 10 in adidas so I can understand a bra being similar if bouncing around brands but for the most part if you know what you wear and like you can likely just browse find your size and go and be confident long as your body size hasn’t changed neither has your bra size in that brand and style.

My wife is the same I’ve seen her just walk in to an aisle and grab a new bra and continue shopping.

The problem of knowing my size is I have, on multiple occasions, ordered several bras all the name make, model, size, and some the same color. But apparently Olga's QC is junk because all fit differently.
