I have serious gyne and due to other problems had to undergo castration nearly 3 years ago. After about 1 year I noticed an increase in breast size and they have continued to grow. Is this due to the lack of testosterone and is there anyway of halting the growth without using hrt.

Hello Kimberley

Whilst much of the information on this forum is generally very supportive and helpful, given that you have had castration, there are certainly some complex hormonal issues to consider.  Endocrinology is one of the more complex medical disciplines and each and every patient is often quite unique.

I urge you to go back to your family doctor and discuss your concerns, who I am sure will refer you back to your endocrinologist to work out what is going on and take the appropriate measures.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for taking the trouble to write everyone. I have seen both several specialists and my own doctor. I have real gyne so actual breast tissue and so far everyone is telling me that due to castration and lack of any testosterone now in my body other hormones have basically taken over and these hormones are inducing even greater breast tissue growth than I already had. The fact I am young is further compounding the problem. I have been told the best course of action to stop further breast growth is hrt but this would put testosterone into my system which caused so much problem in the first place that the decision to remove my ill working testicals was made. I seem to be between a rock and a hard place, back into hell on hrt or ever growing breasts.

It seems that your Dr.s are not pulling any punches, but telling you the truth.  Your options are limited and probably none of them are what you would truly like to hear.

Even so, maintain contact with the Dr.s, They would seem to be dealing with you honestly and also seem to have your best interests at heart.

Good Luck!
