I will assume the opening post was not intended to be inflammatory. That said, I find it offensive and ill thought out. I say this because it is clear to me that this person has little idea of what constitutes a 'worthy' candidate for gynaecomastia and seems to base his judgement mainly on 'who looks after themselves, looks a better overall shape' and by implication that 'gynaecomastia is a more serious issue for 'in shape' people than those that are fat.'
So gynaecomastia 'sucks' when you are in shape and there is nothing you can do about your chest. Well despite my very significant reduction in overall body fat, my t*ts remained identical in size and shape. I could have had surgery whilst at my fattest, but wanted proof for myself that it was not a weight issue.
Was I more upset in having boobs as a leaner guy compared to when I was fatter? Absolutely not. If anything, my self esteem was lower when I was fatter and had boobs than when I was in better overall shape and still had boobs.
The point is, you CANNOT quantify and compare how one guy's gynaecomastia affects them psychologically irrespective of who has the bigger boobs or how well they happen to look after themselves.
I am a gym slave and run marathons. I eat well, but despite this, I don't have cover model's physique and never will. My boyfriend on the other hand, eats sh*t, does no exercise what-so-ever and everyone thinks he works out more than me.
Some people have naturally good body shapes with little or no effort. Other have to work hard just to stay out of the 'overweight' zone on the charts.
To suggest that a healthy lifestyle and having a good physique entitles someone to be more effected by this condition is ridiculous.
The next post by Gruff " The bottom line though really, if your fat as fuk with a gut the size of a baby rhino and your old and ugly who cares that you've got gyne"
Well, I don't know if I would have been considered 'fat as fuk' and I don't know if my ripe age of 33 is considered old and I just might be ugly in your eyes. If I do fulfil your criteria, I never did and never will care if you care or not. Fortunately I can see that this kind of comment speaks volumes about your own insecurities much more than it does about the people you describe. I don't know who you are, but I am sure I would never judge you in such a derogatory way.
I don't know of this 'blatino' character. Whatever his thoughts, opinions or whatever his physical and mental status on the subject is, it does not validate the kind of retorts I so disappointingly read on this thread. Each and every guy that suffers with gynaecomastia is unique. No two cases are ever the same. If judgement has to be passed, at least leave to those that ask for it, otherwise leave it to the medical profession.
