Hi Guys,
Anone heard of Dr. Corbin in LA/OC County?  http://gynecomastiaexpert.com/gyno_Dr_Corbin.html  His site is informational, quite a few before and after pics.  I live close to his OC location and emailed to setup a free consult for next week.  Looks like you guys have been doing a lot of research, so I thought you might already know about him.

Thanks

Nevermind, after doing a little more research I see this doctor Corbin is under indictment for smuggling breast implants from Mexico.  Anyway, keep this thread going.  I live in OC and I am interested in getting this done.  I am serious about it.  But like most of you want to find the right doctor at the right price.  I would also like to stay around the LA/OC area and not travel to TX.

Hux, I am thinking Dr. Cruise for myself. Going out of OC is going to be expensive. I know you had a consult with him, he did not recommend excision? WTF? That makes me think he dosent know what he is doing...

Maybe he changed his policy after being rejected so many times because he didn't do excision lol..
how about you have a consultation with him and see how it goes?

This breast tissue usually does not respond to liposuction alone. It usually requires a small incision under the nipple to remove it. Fortunately, this incision is well hidden.

I just read that on his website..
Maybe for my personal case I didn't need incision or something..

you don't always need an excision for a gynecomastia. you can just lipo it, depending upon how major/minor it is. obviously if it's pretty bad then you will need an excision, but for something so minor you don't always need an excision...i know this because i work for a plastic surgeon...

First off let me say this is a kick-ass thread!  I’ve been putting up posts every now and again trying to find a good surgeon in Southern California but only a few names ever came up and they all had their flaws.  I live at the beach in San Diego and just can’t believe that there aren’t competent surgeons in the area that can pull this off.  I mean seriously go to the beach in San Diego, Orange County, or LA and at least 50% of the people (guys and girls) have model bodies.  I workout hard 3-5 times a week and still can’t get the body I want (plus I have mild gyno w/ gland).  I’m guessing people get these bodies by luck of genetics, steroids, cosmetic surgery, or all of the above.  I would think they’re getting their work done in Southern Cali and not flying to Texas or elsewhere in the country for it.  I mean don’t most Hollywood actors live in LA?!  There have got to be some incredible surgeons in the area!

Anyways, I wanted to throw a name out that hasn’t been mentioned in this thread.  The name is Dr. Anne Wallace at UCSD.  I have not met with her but would like to.  The only reason I even know about this doctor is from another member’s posts on this forum (his username is removethese and I believe he said his surgery was around $5K).  This guy seemed to do his homework and spoke highly of his results with Dr. Wallace.  He also posted pictures http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n30/nomogyno/. To quote some of his posts he mentions:

“Her breast knowledge is second-to-none in my opinion ... she's been working on breast-related problems for 19 years I think.  UCSD is world-renowned for its medical facilities, research, and doctors; you'll see that she fits right in.”

“I found a real interesting plastic surgeon at UCSD; Dr. Anne Wallace.  She's the breast specialist there, and apparently she does amazing work on both men and women from what I've been told by other people in the UCSD medical department.

She makes two small cuts on the outer edge of areola, and first lipos everything to remove the fat.  Whatever remains is glandular tissue, which she then uses scissor-like tools to cut it out and remove it from the small incisions.  She says her technique barely leaves any scars.

She seems very trustworthy because this is not a private practice like many of these other plastic surgeons.  The money you pay goes directly to the UCSD medical center.  She gets paid on a salary I'm assuming.”

I’ve talked to my primary care doctor about plastic surgeons and she recommended Dr. Smoot at Scripps La Jolla, Dr. Brian Reagan, Dr. Michael Halls.  I heard Smoot from a few different physicians so I went in for a consultation with him.  He seems nice but I don’t believe he does this procedure often.  From my research on the other doctors I get the same feeling (I guess the big business in So Cal is breast implants).

Anyways, I picked up a good job last year and think I’ll be able to afford this surgery (since I know my insurance isn’t going to pick it up).  I want the BEST surgeon and BEST results!  I know price is an issue but think about it, I would definitely pay $2-$3K more if it meant solid results without scarring.  Think about it this is your body!  I know we’re all on the same page here and I think the group discount is an awesome idea!  I just don’t want it to come at the price of a mediocre surgeon with mediocre results.

Does Shafer know you don't like your results?  You need to tell him you think he did a shitty job.  Ask for a refund.

Wallace did an amazing job fixing Shafer's mess. It wasn't the first time she revised a Shafer patient.

If you guys decide to go with her, realize that she is very busy and it's not easy getting a surgery date.

I just made an appointment to come in for a consultation and the soonest I could be seen was mid-July.  I don't mind the wait and I'm looking forward to hear what she has to say about my chest.  For me I think having someone local is important for convenience of follow ups but more so in case there's any emergencies the actual physician that did the surgery is close by.

Thanks for returning to the boards removethese and giving us the low-down.  :)  I believe Dr. Wallace will probably be the best doctor in the area given all the feedback I've heard so far...

But you paid $6500 and you're not satisfied.  You didn't get what you paid for.

I'm guessing you probably saw Ron mostly.  It seems like Ron takes care of everything there now.  Schafer just walks around the whole time.

I think I paid like $5300 or so with Wallace.  I can't remember, but if you look for some of my old posts, I may have mentioned it.
