I am planning a visit to an endocrinologist and was wondering what tests I should discuss having done with the doctor. Thanks.

I am planning a visit to an endocrinologist and was wondering what tests I should discuss having done with the doctor. Thanks.

Typically a good endocrinologist will take a history of the problem, then conduct a clinical exam, and then order appropriate tests.  These tests can vary based on what is found.  Some preliminary testing may lead to more extensive testing based on what the first tests have revealed.  Testing can range from blood tests, to genetic smears, to scans, to MRI's, to CT scans, X-rays, and sometimes biopsy of tissue.  Some doctors can, from the clinical information found, tell a patient that no testing is indicated.

If you feel you need to discuss what tests should be done with your endocrinologist, then you have picked the wrong doctor.

Hope this helps,

when you call though, won't the endocrinologist ask you what you need to see the doctor for?
