Cheers fellas  ;D Was a bit naughty and wore my compression tee to work today instead of the garment, just because it was uncomfy under my work shirt! Will try and wear the garment for the rest of this week now. can alrite feel a very firm area under the right hand side, think it may be scar tissue not sure! Luckily the weather is nice and miserable atm, makes wearing the garment more bearable!  :P

Did an hour of cardio this morning (vest off), need to start shifting the fat. Felt fine doing it, was on the stationary bike. Probably going to do another half an hour later as I've got a lot of work to do!

Update: Just did another hour on the bike! Killing it.  :P Can a firm area on the right hand side which I think is probably scar tissue, seems far too firm for swelling, did notice it was causing a bit of indent/creasy sort of area a tiny bit early but nothing major - can't wait to start massaging so I can get on with evening it all out etc!

Just done another hour on the bike, feels good! Havn't noticed anymore swelling or anything as a result of it which is good. Also started sleeping on my side/front again as there's no discomfort at all and I much prefer that to sleeping on my back! Again, doesn't seem to be a problem in terms of swelling etc. Still a little yellowish bruising, mainly on the right side but all is looking relatively good so far.  :)

Just did some bicep work at home with dumbells (bicep curls, hammer curls & zottman curls). Felt absolutely fine, no discomfort in chest etc so hopefully there's no problems there. Probably try doing some shoulders tomorrow (lateral raises, front raises, rear delt flys and upright rows - think I'll give shoulder pressing a miss for now.) Think I might start massaging from 2 weeks post op, as it all seems to be healing well and I can see the scar tissue developing already especially on the right hand side which is bugging me.. and in Karidis's post-op instructions it says you can start 2-3 weeks post op, so should be alright?

Just did more cardio and gave my chest a 5 minute massage with the massage oil Karidis provided.. I know it's early but I seem to be healing quickly, and there's no pain or discomfort when touching my chest + I can feel a fair bit of scar tissue already developing so I want to try and stop it in its tracks tbh! May massage again later on.

Well I'll be 2 weeks post-op tomorrow. Everything seems to be going great. Went to the gym yesterday twice, Cardio in the AM + heavy arms and more cardio in the evening. Absolutely fine, no discomfort etc. Went again today to train heavy back + more cardio. Started eating well again, clean diet, high protein. I feel as if I could train chest heavy tbh and be absolutely fine. I've been massaging the last few days 3 times a day and that's going fine, no discomfort or anything no matter how hard I press around my chest, massaging around the incisions etc too. Still a bit of unevenness on the right side but I think it's improving, left side seems all good. Bruising pretty much all gone, I presume swelling has too, hard to tell! Will try and get some pictures up tomorrow!

ps no more vest in the day as of tomorrow, yeah buddy!

Didn't get time to do pics yest sorry. Went to the gym and did shoulders + some chest and it all felt fine, think I might do more chest when I go today.

One thing I did notice is I'm sure after having the vest off in the day yesterday my chest looked a bit bigger/swollen after a while? This morning after taking the vest off it looks flatter again, is that just swelling or?

Cheers

From reading Choppers post its swelling mate, maybe you should ease off the chest as well? Surely all that weight and pressure isn't good when your still recovering? Just keep wearing the vest and it will soon die down.

Mm think it is, hopefully! Hmm I went and did chest today at gym, felt fine no discomfort or anything? Massaged before and after and doesn't seem to have caused any extra swelling so hard to know really! Won't do any more chest this week now though.

But then again without doing any exercise your gonna swell up anyway. But swelling means your chest is still recovering and it can't be good putting all that weight and pressure on your chest?

But I'm no doctor, I'm gonna leave chest at least a month after surgery and just concentrate on cardio and legs.

I think it's just down to the lack of compression really. Going to continue with gym etc, may just go easier on chest day for a week or 2. Hard to know really, guess only a doctor could explain the ins and outs of it, not sure how putting strain on the muscle of that area has any effect on surrounding tissues etc!

As I say pal I'm not a doctor, but from a recovery view point maybe its more beneficial to not put your chest under any stress until a later date. Hopefully I'm wrong because it will help me with my fitness after my surgery on Tuesday, the more push ups, kettlebells ect I do the more weight I'll drop.

I'm not a doctor but I think two weeks post op is too early to be doing heavy work outs.

The swelling is generally caused by fluid build up / water retention in the general area of the surgery...... doing heavy work outs will send extra blood pumping around the body and cause even more swelling.

Give it a rest for a week or two more.  Do a bit of walking or something a bit more gentle.
