i feel for u man having to wear the vest all that time and the additional pain from draining etc would have been an ordeal, its bad enough for me just waiting for scar tissue to go down and the emotional ups and downs attached to how it will turn out. i really hope to hear the end to your surgery story/final results.

Week 6

For those interested..... an update...

Well i am no longer retaining fluid it seems. There is a tiny bit but im sure that will disperse in time. I am also no longer wearing the vest during the day (Nighttime only) and must remark that i feel 100% more human now.

Chest still painful to touch, left arm movment is improving all the time.

Well done mate, it seems you are over the worst.  You were certainly unlucky with that fluid build up.

Good luck and keep posting.

Can i ask anyone out there who has had surgery, how long after were you able to resume any sporting activities eg gym etc?

i was really hoping to by now but my chest is still so painful to touch and the scar on the left side is really sore whenever i try to stretch out. Past the 6 weeks marks now and still starting to think it was a bad idea

I was given the all clear, and encouraged by Paul Levick, for massaging and full activities 4 weeks post op.  However I didn’t have any of the problems you were unlucky enough to encounter.  My guess would be to add 4 weeks from now and you should be ok if no other problems arise.  It might be best to give Levick a call at that time just to confirm though.

I think I can understand your frustration; you have had a tough time, but just hang in there a little longer, you don’t want to take any backward steps after what you have been through.  You WILL look back at this in 12 months and see it for what it is .. the beginnings of your new life which just took a little time to get going. :)

Update:..... nothing changed, everything EXACTLY the same. still VERY painful to touch, still solid on left side and big creasae on right side. Mr Levick told me to start massaging but it is too painful!  I seem to have fat below the nipple area which looks really strange.

Read another account today from an unhappy customer of Mr Levick who has had revision surgery and still not happy. Getting really concerned now

Try not to worry.  Let the healing run for at least 9 (preferably 12) months and take stock then.  Changes will be gradual and almost unnoticeable but you really do have to wait and see.  Worrying about it won’t make any difference whatsoever except perhaps to make you feel awful.  Surgery is the easy part with Levicks procedure; waiting for the healing is the hard part.

You have had a really tough time.  I cannot recall reading about anyone who has had so much hassle as you have with swelling etc.  It must have been hell, but we are all in there rooting for you, so try not to worry.

Do keep us posted on how your healing progresses.

I find that quite surprising, it sounds like every possible thing that could be difficult or go wrong happened to you, I hope you start to see some improvements soon.

Have you spoken to Mr. Levick about your problems?   Also have you got any before & after pictures?

You say you wouldn't do it again? - Is that because of the complications & pain or because you are really unhappy with the results, I take it you are not as flat/smooth as you had expected at this stage?

best of luck with the recovery.......

I'm going into the priory myself in 3 weeks time.

I do (did) a lot of martial arts, gym work etc..... but i cant do any of those. i have bought a bike to try to get some exercise.  and yes, the pain.... if anyone or anythin touches the left side of my chest it is unbearable. so yes, in hind site i dont think i would have done it

Odd - can you put some pics up and tell us what Mr Levick said at your consult.

i will post some picks soon

i dont want to be disrespectful to mr levick because he is such a nice fellow. He is professional and friendly, made me feel soooo comfortable and under no pressure at all. the only thing i had to worry about was getting better. whenever i telephoned him he was ALWAYS there to talk and it was never a problem. he's a great guy... i just got unlucky i think. hopefully in time i will be happy
