I hate my chest - am I fat, or is it GYNo?

im the same mate gyno is a constantly on my mind to, my problem is the same as yours really isnt big to others! but enough to affect me in things i do on a daily basis thats why im choosing surgery. mainly cause i dont feel comfortable in a t shirt anymore i feel as if i have no choice. atleast u have found this site and can now look at ur options. think a plastic surgeon will charge atleast £100 for a consultation. there is one well known with a good reputaion on here that is £75 karidis i think.

the trouble is it is a lot of money for someone to say yes u have gynecomastia, where as a local dr will do that for free if u get me.
i done it the other way round went to the drs first and then wanted a secound opinion off a specialist. good to get ur bloods checked to while ur at the drs hope that helps.

So you are having surgery then? Can I ask how much that is costing you? I honestly would love to get rid of it, so I can be happy...am I right in thinking a DR will only refer you to someone on NHS if its severe, i doubt that will call my case severe if it is even gyno...

i too was wandaring the exact thing how do u know for sure what is then? thanks for that info dr B. the only thing is who wants to go and have a breast scan at their local hospital. I have seen three p s they all pretty said the same think that it was gyno! it would be great if their own machine lol.

u will have to pay for a consultation with a ps so maybe seein a dr would be the cheaper option. are u in the uk?

Gynecomastia is a contour problem. If the shape is female like then it is gynecomastia. That even includes subtle Puffy Nipple Gynecomastia.  That is why I evolved my Dynamic Technique to manage the problem I find for each patient.

def gyne, no question, look at the side profile close-ups.  also, it doesn't matter what the content is, you don't need a prelim for that since any competent ps doesn't really need to know that in advance, he just deals with what's in front of him when he opens it up.  you can learn other things from visits, but that question won't matter much.

only just seen ur reply! yes im thinking of havin surgery been quoted 4200 its alot of money but im very much in the same situation as u. i dont have a big case but its enough to annoy the hell out of me in t shirts etc.

think heldhigh has said the same looks like u have gyne! i know it sucks visiting a regular GP but on the good point they are free and they aint goin to benefit wether u get surgery or not so they are prerry neutral.

well I am abit late posting the reply, so apologies for that

I am just training hard in gym, and now christmas is over, diet is back in place to accompany gym, and I think I need to loose some more fat and then bite the bullet and see my DR, though I think he will brus me off, but the more training I do, the more fat I loose the more convinced I am I do have a small case, its small to other people, might aswell be a mountain to me

hey markfj good to know u are carrying on withe exercise hope u can shift it, let us know if u do manage to get rid of it with exercise and diet etc.

ive kinda lost hope in shifting mine with exercise and diet as the rest of my body shrink stomach etc but the gyne remains. friends have told me in the past im lookin really thin and i know i still have the problem with gyne.

i dont really know wether it is in my head or not but think it can make it more obvious if i loose to much weight, but i have heard it mentiond on these boards that it can show up more.

unfortunately i havent had the sugery yet but am hopin to get it at the start of the new year. i will try and post pics and info when i book wich should pretty soon.

just trying not to think about it and enjoy the holiday period at the moment but im hopin next year will be a good one

The whole diet/exercise thing for me, is mainly to keep fit and keep my fat down, I put on weight quickly so like to train, snot really just for loosing weight, though I know I could loose the love handles

absolutely gyne, you can tell from side profile, not mental and not fat, only an op will fix it, not exercise.  have you checked out the uk boards, they discuss nhs versus private a lot.  better odds with private, depends on the competence of the individual doc with nhs.  good luck man.

I am only looking to lower my fat because I want to go to the docs, and know in my own head I am not even slightly fat so they cant use that as an excuse, I think 6-10lbs and I can do this no problem.

I appreciate your input, thanks alot, and I am glad you can see its not a mental thing too, I will look into NHS in future, there is no way I could afford private

Yeah its gyne, i wouldn't worry about losing weight your defiantly your correct BMI weight

Definitely try the NHS, but get a referral to an gyne friendly clinic (broomfield?). Youl find that most clinics will give you the runaround for a few months and refuse you when you see the actual surgeon. So best off traveling somewhere because at the end of the day youl be traveling for private surgery anyway

Karidis is expensive, i think i totalled around £4200 but then you have to add travel costs. Time off work etc and then follow up appointments. If you can afford it get it without a shadow of a doubt. But dont cripple yourself with debt if you cant and exhaust the NHS route it may take time but with persistence you should get the surgery

people outside UK should know this: the docs who perform NHS surgery are more often than not the SAME docs in the private sector!
Regardless of this neither is inferior or superior to the other!

The UK NHS used to be the worlds second largest employer,  second to the Red army!

accroing to the BMI scale, I am clased as overweight, I should weigh 10.5 stone I weight 11.5, I know some of this is muscle due to training, but I could loose some excess still.

so, how exacly does the NHS route work? I guessed you would neeed a severe case for the docs to even thin about sending you to someone for free surgery? Or they just determine if you have Gyno and then refer you to a surgeon and take it from there?

I am on a 3 month strict diet, so llooking to cut up and strip most of my fat and then I will see my DR

really appreciate your help and advice too guys! Given me more confidence already
