Hi everyone, I'm 47 (and having hair thinning😑) and two months back in May, I experienced pretty intense nipple sensitivity, especially when driving. I felt all the little bumps on the road I can't concentrate! Then it's throughout the day, at my office, doing daily things. Researched into it, learnt about gyne and chatted with my spouse. She said I'm like going through teenage girl puberty and recommended that I wear a training bra and that began an exciting journey into online bra shopping!

Two months on, here's my current photo. I don't feel any prominent hard/rubbery thing when I press around but I think there are general masses that are more than fats. Somehow the nipples are not too sensitive now.

Is this the beginning of my gyne journey and am I going to expect this to grow much bigger? Do the sensitivity come and go, like only during growth spurts when the nipples/breasts expand and grow in size?

I've been wearing sport bras and bralettes everyday for 1+ month now. Not sure if I need to replace all of them in a year's or few years' time should my "breasts" grow larger.

Is the growth mostly into the first few years (like teenage girls) or slow & steady over like 10-20 years?

Welcome and thanks for sharing.

I agree with your wife both about you being in the early stages of developing breasts and the appropriateness of starting to wear a bra.  So good she is accepting and supportive.

The sensitivity will be greatest during your growth spurts.  Only time will tell how big you get.

Soon, or maybe already? wearing a bra will become second nature to you like it is to your wife. And you will need an appropriate bra collection like she does.

How do and your wife feel about all this ?

Welcome to the club!

Everyone is different, so just how much and how fast breast tissue grows varies from person to person. The soreness and sensitivity does indicate a growing spurt, and they do come and go.
Your wife was right in recommending a sports bra for now as it will help with jiggling, rubbing, etc...
You will just be more comfortable.
Before long, putting on your bra will become as natural as putting on your shoes.
There are a great number of people here that have trekked this journey and would be more than happy to answer any questions.

Again, welcome aboard!

Thank you for the warm welcome, it's reassuring to know one will not walk this journey alone and to know others around here have started the trek ahead of me. Yes, the sport bras and bralettes are great and yes wearing a bra is a must have now.

I've also tried non-wired bras with straps and hooks and I like them, but wired ones do not (yet) work well for me as they do not match my profile/contours yet, so they poke in at various places despite the correct band size, and the cups are too large to fill. My wife doesn't have an issue with me wearing bras, even those with straps and hooks if they are not too prominent.

Can you all share how old and how long have you all had gyne, are yours still growing or have stabilized, was the growth in the initial few years or in various growth spurts over many years? I just want to prep my wife as she thinks it's only an initial sensitivity and the nipples will accustom and I may no longer need to wear bra down the road. I don't think it is the case when I see all your photos! I understand everyone is different but will be good to see how different or similar we may be.

60 years old, started growing boobs in puberty about 12ish.
Graduated high school about a B cup, then about a C cup around 30ish. I'm now up to a DD or DDD depending on the bra.

I started getting boobs when I was 11. They got to substantial size and I saved every penny to have mastectomy as soon as I was on my own. That was over 15 years ago. I have started to develop them again over the last year and a half. I donā€™t plan on having surgery again. I wear a bra at home only. Now a C cup.

I'm not sure that anyone can tell how large they will get. My mother was an A-cup and my sister was a b-cup and I just moved into a d-cup in some bras, but I still wear my c-cups because I have so many. I have been wearing bras for over 50 years mostlyat home for 30 of those years,  but I have been wearing a bra full time for over 20 years! My girls are at attention most of the time so going braless is not an option.

Good luck in your journey and remember that you can always ask any questions you may have in here.
Welcome and make yourself at home.

Started growing my breasts 2 years ago

No BP meds causing this
Have had a more than rapid decline in testosterone ( down to 53 on total testosterone)
Docs still exploring the reasons for primary hypogonadism

Just finished the gamut of more tests and no explanations yet

Wow, looks like a long journey ahead of couple of decades maybe. I wonder what size I'll land up at then. I'm reading more of the forum and learn so much more on the growth spurts + sensitivity + sore + pain combo. Reminds me exactly of teenage girls' during high school! Never in my life would I think I'll go through that too, 35 years late, but never too late. 😆

I grew my boobs around age 13, at the same time that the girls in my class were getting theirs. A very difficult time that I had to navigate in my own way way pre internet. As a result of comments by others, I discovered that I did fit a bra and felt best when wearing one. It was initially hard to wear one as much as I wanted to but eventually was able to wear one full time. I came to feel satisfied with having boobs and wearing a bra to manage them properly.
If the bra fits, wear it.

Just keep the girls supported and enjoy the ride 😉

Unfortunately I hid mine for decades. I hid everything including myself. 🤔

But it's better late than never😉

I was in a similar situation, growing breasts later in life.  Mine started in my mid-60ā€™s, which led me to get a full hormone profile done.  My testosterone was extremely low, most likely due to old age and one non-functioning testicle.  I did start on TRT which had the effect of eliminating many of the negative impacts of low T, which I had previously attributed to just getting old.  TRT also significantly slowed the progression of my gyno.  TRT wonā€™t reverse the gyno, but itā€™s keeping it at a level I have no problem accepting (still growing, but at a much reduced rate). I know a lot of forum members are against TRT, but it has made a significant improvement in the quality of my life, and Iā€™d recommend that you consider it, especially if youā€™re suffering negative impacts from your hypogonadism.

Welcome to the club of special people.

I'm 72.  My gynecomastia began shortly after I retired at 61.  I began exercising to get in shape.  I have asthma, so upped my steroid inhaler doses to get in my runs.  Within 6 months, I noticed sensitivity in my nipples and soon after pain in my breasts.  My PCP referred me to a specialist who ordered a mammogram.  Sure enough, I had it.  His PA wrote a note to my wife suggesting that I begin wearing a bra for comfort.

I started with a sports bra and they worked for several years.  Breasts have grown, so I'm now wearing standard bras.  Still wear sports bras for exercising.  I prefer non-wired bras as they don't project as much as wired.  My wife has suggested t-shirt wired bras, as my nipples can show under my summer shirts.  Yesterday, we hosted a 4th of July gathering.  In the evening, it started to cool down and I was shocked to look in the mirror and see how pronounced they were.  I was not wearing a bra, just a golf shirt.  I'm looking for nipple coverings.

No telling what youā€™ll wind up with

Went from 44ā€ to 50 inches in two years somewhat significant but not as voluminous as others

Wide set and large base so it was not difficult to dress and look ok until last fall when the last growth started

Am using pull over sports bras last 6 months but this new spurt may take me over this line to a regular bra to get the comfort and support I need
