When to schedule surgery

Hi folks.

I have a consultation scheduled for next week, but I'm not sure I can completely afford the actual surgery yet.  Is there as certain time window following a consultation during which you must schedule the surgery?  I'm wondering whether or not to just postpone the consultation until I'm sure I can afford the procedure...

They will probably give you a quote, which will be valid for x months. In my case I think it was valid for about 6 months? Can't remember exactly...anyway, the wait for the surgery is usually shorter than the wait for a consultation strangely.
