After Trauma or Hospital Stay?

Has anyone had this condition show up after an accident that required a hospital stay or multiple medications?  My husband was in a serious construction accident 8 months ago.  His legs were crushed.  He required several surgeries and was on many medications.  His PCP thought that it might go away when he stopped taking all the medications, but it has not.  It seems to have gotten worse.  He did gain some weight due to his inactivity, but now he is exercising and losing some weight... but the gyne is not getting any better.  Has anyone had medication induced gyne that has gone away on it's own?  Is it possible for it to go away by itself, or is surgery the only way now??

There is a very long list of medications which have Gynecomastia, Breast Swelling, Breast tenderness etc. as possible side effects.

But will it go away without surgery if it was drug induced?

I haven't had much time to look into this, and this isn't an area of my expertise. I do however notice that Diazepam is a benzodiazepine, which is class of medications implicated in causing drug-induced gynecomastia.

I'm not sure what to believe about regression of drug induced gynecomastia.

The most plausible answer I've heard is that IF the offending drug is withdrawn soon enough the condition MAY regress over time. (perhaps as much as two years).

The presence of two qualifiers (IF and MAY) and the time frame involved do not seem too encouraging, But it is the best I can do.

He plans to exercise.  It has already been several months since he has stopped taking the meds.  We'll see what the dr. says when he goes in early September.
