Contacted the hospital yesterday to try and find out how many times he'd done this before, and the lady looked into it and got back to me today..

In the last 12 months up to November 2009 he did 7, from April 2005 to November 2009 hes done 30. How does this sound to you guys? Not sure how to feel atm, and its a week today!

In terms of pictures, she said she couldn't provide any as they'd need the patients consent and they didn't have the consent of any patients (she suggested having a look on google etc which i've already done.)

Well my Underworks post-surgery compression garment arrived today.. Tried it on, didn't seem noticabley tight ? But then again, I've been wearing a single layer underworks compression vest for the last few months so I'm used to it possibly - I'd say it compressed about as much as the vest maybe a little more.. That sound okay?

I just came across your thread, and saw tht you were trying to deciding between getting areola size reduction or not.

I strongly advice you to NOT do it yet. Not only are the risks too high, but ur nipple size will spontaneously shrink after removal of the gland. I had my surgery about 14 days ago, and my nipples went down in size by 50% within 2 days of removal of the gland.

Also, since it seems like you will be meeting your surgeon before the surgery, you can ask him questions like what are the possible complications that could happen, and what would be the possible solutions?

The two most common problems that people usually face  are : 1) Not enough gland is removed  or 2) Too much of the gland and fat is removed leaving behind a crater. Sometimes the crater fills up in 6months to an year, sometimes it doesnt, depending on the severity.

Ask him in details about the crater deformity. Ask him to explain to you how does he ensure that his surgery does not leave behind a crater and whether his previous patients had any such problems.

And once again, NO nipple reduction plz

Yeah I've decided 100% i'm not going to have it done, not worth the risks. Also thoes are some good questions so I'll try and remember to ask them on the day! Thanks for the advice!

Glad to be of any help, dude. I would suggest to write down everything tht comes to ur mind point by point on a piece of paper nd take it with u to the meeting. It is very easy to get overwhelmed  nd forget stuff during the consultation especially with doctors in a hurry.

Yeah i'll probably sit down night before or something and jot some some questions I want to ask so I don't forget ! haha. The days seem to be going so slow! Just wish it'd come around already!

Phoned up the hospital earlier and got my admission time, got to be there for 7.30 in the morning!! Apparently i'm the first of the day. Got everything packed up, bought a couple of magazines and going to take my ipod with me - I'm hoping I'll be out on wednesday but we'll see I guess.

Part of me feels sick/nervous, the other is excited... Weird feeling knowing my life could be changed tomorrow in a very good way, yet the nerves that it may not go as well as I'm hoping and I'll be dissapointed/regret - fingers crossed though, it'll go as well as it can! Going to *try* and get some sleep now, going to be up at 5am, not cool! haha.

Well guys, i'll be sure to report back as soon as I'm home, and pictures will come certainly at some point. Hopefully the next time I'm writing here, i'll be on the other side.

Sup guys.

Had the operation Tuesday morning, only got out of hospital yesterday morning. Had to stay in for 2 nights, had drains on which wasn't great - hospital was boring! Anyway.. feeling pretty damn sh*t atm.

Now, the surgeon and his assistant both said they were happy with the result and thought I'd be pleased etc, and I never got to see the result immediately after the operation, the first time I looked down (whilst lying down) and had a sort of peek was about 12 hours after they'd actually done the operation.. now I can't remember exactly what it looked like then but I knew it wasn't that flat still. How long does it take for swelling to arise? Can it really arise in a matter of 12 hours or so?

I've just taken off my vest for the first time since it went on and remove my dressings whilst stood up (to attempt to wash!) and I've still got plastery things over my nipples etc covering a fair amount of the breast, but it's far from flat.. If anything, the area looks possibly BIGGER than before?! How can this be?

I realise the area is healing and swelling can occur... But what I want to know is, really, how much swelling can occur? How much difference can it make? Right now I feel crap, and its christmas day. I'm scared right now that I'm going to be very dissapointed and that there's going to be little improvement - but i don't understand how the surgeon could have been satisfied with the result if there really is going to be so little improvement. Currently I'm taking paracetemol for pain and ibuprofen for swelling, I havn't had any pain just a little discomfort.

I'm going back on Thursday to see (I believe) Mr Masood and I guess that's when they'll remove the plasters and stuff from my chest.. But I just don't know how to feel right now, I want to cry. How much reduction is realistic after swelling has gone? 50%? 100%? Can it really make that much difference? They warned me when they were checking up on me that the area was pretty swollen and not to worry - but I just can't help it.

Please help, if one of the doctors could input some of their knowledge with swelling etc it'd be appreciated. I realise it's very early days, but so far, it's not looking good (literally.)

I know from reading here, as i am sure you do, that the initial results can change but I don't know by how much in all honesty. Usually people seem happy the day after the op then a little bit of swelling occurs and they're not so happy, then scar tissue forms and they worry then its usually ok.

It is quite common after operations to get a little depressed - it's quite an experience, don't underestimate what you've just been through. An operation for some can bring out a lot of feelings that have previously been dormant about your condition.

If you could post a before and after shot that would be great as you'll get some honest opinions from myself and others.

I think I took my pics on day 2 if you're interested although i was pretty happy with the results - but everyone's body reacts differently.

Try not to get too down - there's always options.

Yeah searching on here and the internet it seems swelling etc is all dependant on surgical technique, so I guess that's one factor it's just a matter of how much reduction is realistic post swelling..

Definitely feeling a bit depressed right now, mainly down to the fact that I'm scared i've made a mistake and the results arn't going to be satisfactory, when I thought that this was it and it was going to be over..  I'm tying to keep calm and patient, but it's so hard. I'll try and get some pictures up asap. I can't remember if I read correctly but I vaguely remember reading that having drains in place can increasing swelling, is that correct?

everyone's body acts differently to surgery there is no strict timeline to follow, all you can do is wait for it to heal some get swelling instantly. Its partly down to how the surgeon operates on you

as for drains, i doubt it affects swelling etc some surgeons just prefer to use them some dont! The issue with gynecomastia its mainly a psychological problem. Dont let it get you down your mind can play tricks on you!

I do try to say in "im getting surgery" topics that there will be a period where you feel bad about the surgery and some days where you are chuffed to bits. Just take it with the flow its WAY to early to be dissapointed about the surgery. Case in point if you look at my surgery in my signature i came out Day1 flat as a pancake then it swelled and im still trying to get rid of scar tissue today

but im still happy with my results, and they are getting much better now im going down the gym and shredding the bodyfat

Okay well they did warn me it was swollen etc so I guess I'll just *try* and stay calm and wait it out and see what happens... If there's little to no improvement when I go in on Thursday i'll be sure to try and see Mr. masood so I can discuss it with him and see what he thinks about it.

Will try and get some pictures up tomorrow or something. Eaten some fresh pinapple today as I've heard it helps with swelling so going to be getting as much of that down me as I can ! May aswell try it! Might get some arnica capsules aswell, surgeon said he wouldn't bother but I want to try everything I can right now to try and see some sort of result from this.

The past 2 nights (when I've been sleeping at home) i've been trying to sleep on my back but when I wake up in the morning twice I've been on my side/front with my chest resting against the bed! What could this do? I havn't felt any discomfort/pain from this, but I hear you're supposed to sleep on your back.. What effect could this have?
