Finding a endocrinologist

I live in Buffalo, NY and can not seem to find any endocrinologist in my area that may have expertise in gyno. The first doctor I visited seemed to be strictly diabetic and have very little knowledge on gynecomastia. I have searched the web and can not come up with anything. Any suggestions?

As you have already observed, it is common for an Endocrinologist to specialize within the field. You would be looking for one who specializes in reproductive issues. A fertility clinic may be the place to look.

It's very common for endocrinologists to sub-specialize in diabetes, since that is where a lot of their business comes from. In fact, diabetes and endocrinologists are listed in the same section of providers for a lot of insurance companies. Ordinarily, I would tell someone that they may need to travel to find an endocrinologist that understands their needs, but you live in NY. You will certainly be able to find an endocrinologist that has worked with gyne sufferers before, but it will require some due diligence on your part. I am working on some resources for gyne sufferers that includes a recommended endocrinologist list that will only include docs that have experience with gyne sufferers. We are a very special sub-category that requires some additional expertise. Keep your eyes open Corey, and keep calling around- you'll be able to find an endo that understand our condition. EDIT: Like the above poster stated, check your insurance listings for a REPRODUCTIVE ENDOCRINOLOGIST. Specifically a male one. Most others deal specifically with diabetes.
