Planning on Surgery

I did wake up with quite a bad back this morning, so hopefully that won't last for long. I'm now off to have my first check up, then probably to get my first lunch outside the hotel. I've got no bruising and am fully mobile, but still try not to make any sudden movements. I've had a few quick peeks, and I understand what people have meant when they say that their new chests look "too flat". The nipples are very flat and actually look painted on. Give them time though.

Yeah it took my chest about 10-14 days before it sprung back out again.  It was worryingly flat for a week or so!  Don't be concerned about it, I think it just contracts out of shock or something but it will come back.

Sounds like you're doing well if you're fully mobile already.

I'm not worried, it's coming together so quickly and I'm already virtually pain free. The check up was really quick, and I went in ahead of three women whom I assume were there about breast enlargements. I had my dressing changed and Kataryzna confirmed that the nipples were both alive and well. Kataryzna said that she had removed about 250 ml of fat and 250g of gland, which is a fair amount. Kataryzna confirmed that I can have a shower as the drains are already out, so I'll probably take that tomorrow morning before the next check up. She's promised me that she'll be pulling the nipple loose, so that's something to look forward to. For the moment at least, my chest looks great. She said that the pecs will actually expand a little as they've been compressed by the gland for so long. She was very pleased with my result as there was no indentation, even when I raised my arms above my head. As of the moment, I can't recommend the clinic highly enough. If you're robust enough to spend a week in a foreign country, then I say go for it.

After my consultation, the other English lad and I took a taxi to the Galaxy and had lunch at the Pizza Hut. I had a pizza, he had pasta and we both had salad bar, which was mostly just a selection of different coleslaws. We looked around a few of the shops, and interestingly clothes seem to be as expensive as in the UK. Vodka, though, is dirt cheap. When we went outside, there were fog horns blowing, and it turned out that it was a protest with about 10 tractors in front of a group of 40 people, with another 10 tractors behind them. The procession was just moving slowly down the street, and we were the only ones who appeared to find it odd.

The swelling has gone down a lot, there's a little fluid left and the skin feels odd, but things are settling down incredibly fast considering that it's been about 44 hours since the operation.

The surgery, blood tests, scans and shuttle from Berlin came to 1,500 pounds. The hotel was about 300 for 8 nights with breakfast. Including a couple of compression vests, I'd say that everything including food, taxis and prescriptions will come to 2,150 tops.

looking good mate, surprisingly low level of swelling. i've seen pics 2-3 days after surgery that look like someone took a sledgehammer to the chest!

Thanks. It actually looks better than the pictures, as the pictures don't show the really dramatic changes when seen in profile (I'll upload some more tomorrow). I've been drinking about a gallon a day, and I think that it may have helped keep swelling down. Off now for another check up and a quick lunch.

Just had my check up which took all of three minutes. She gave the nipples a very good tug, but there wasn't any real tethering and I didn't feel a thing (It helps that there's a lot of numbness). There's no chance of nipple death at this point, and she said that I'll be one of the smoothest recoveries. I'm leaving next Monday, so I'll have my last check up just before I catch my bus.

After the check up I caught a cab into the Galaxy centre and had a grilled chicken sub for lunch. I bought a ticket to see Skyfall at 10:00 this evening, then went to the supermarket to stock up on oranges, dried fruit and nuts. I spent around 20 pounds and got a decent amount. The bag weighed 4kg and I walked back to the hotel without feeling a thing. I'll take it easy at the hotel and then head out to get dinner and see the film this evening.

One thing I will mention is that cabs really start to add up after a while. It's about 8 pounds return from the clinic, so remember to budget for a few check ups. I think that Taxis around the city will have cost me at least 40 pounds before I leave.

Always nice to hear that your recovery's going to be a smooth one.

I always walked around the city (other than for the surgery) so didn't spend a huge amount on taxis but it was probably slightly warmer temperatures when I was there so I quite liked the exercise and fresh air.

It's snowing pretty heavily at the moment, and I don't really feel up to walking to the surgery. Three rides to and from the clinic for my check ups comes to 120, another 20 for the ride back after surgery, a couple of taxis to get my blood tests (I met Jeremy there) and it really starts to add up. Still a far sight cheaper than getting it done elsewhere. I've been walking around a bit just to kill boredom, and it's actually a pretty nice city. The first two days I mostly spent in the hotel, but I'll definitely be spending more time in the city now that the soreness has completely subsided.

Did you only get gland removal then?

How are you finding being on your own out there, is it difficult with the language barrier and stuff? I'm hoping to go in June and I'm so shit scared of being in a foreign country on my own where I don't speak the language

wezzer don't be scared.  Honestly, although it's a foreign country, Szczecin didn't seem at all dangerous to me and all the hotel/restaurant staff speak good English.

Like Poland2012 says, you can get taxis everywhere for cheap if you don't feel like walking around much.

It's not as daunting as it seems.
