Revision and Scar Tissue

I am wondering how scar tissue plays a role in revision gynecomcastia.  If we choose a great gyno surgeon, how can this affect the surgery and the end result?  Can someone please break this down for me?

It presents even a challenge for even a very good doctor. Now you have three types of tissue to deal with removing (fat, breast tissue, and scar tissue).

Any operation always leaves some amount of scar tissue in its wake -- that is the normal way in which the body heals from surgery.

When contemplating revision surgery, the additional presence of scar tissue is a hurdle which the surgeon must be prepared to deal with.  Scar tissue makes all the tissues less elastic, it limits the spread of local anesthesia and it sometimes limits what can be done to improve the original results.

That being said, in the hands of an experience gyne surgeon, the presence of scar tissue is not insurmountable.  However, it is important that the surgeon communicate to you what the anticipated results of the operation would be -- if any.  In most circumstances, it is important to set one's sights lower -- not to seek perfection but to be content with improvement.  And sometimes there can be a surprise and the results can be significantly better.

And then remember one thing:  after revision surgery, your body will heal with -- scar tissue.  No-one can control how your body will heal.
