I tried a smaller cup size

First let me preface this by saying I like my breasts, I'm not ashamed of them at all but do not go out in clothing selected to raise eyebrows nor do I deliberately try concealment like wearing a sports bra which are Waayyy too warm in the far south. 

My boobs are what they are and my main purposes for wearing a bra are to keep my boobs warmer because they're always cold, and to insulate them from rubbing against my tee shirt.  I also like the effect that wearing a bra is like getting a continuous hug.

Daily I wear and fit perfectly an underwired and unlined 36B and I get no overflow / spillage nor loose flapping cups. Recently on a lark I ordered a Victoria's secret demi 36A and I like the effect. My boobs burst out with plenty of spillage and they look like the gals in bra adverts :-). 

Add to that even though my GF adores my breasts in my standard size bra she really appreciated the new spillage look. I'm now tempted to buy a few more but finding my preferred style in an unlined demi and an A cup is going to be a chore and for a wearing in home only garment that may get expensive.  

Has anyone else tried a smaller cup than their regular size?

Based on true bra sizing that is like going down two sizes.  I guess that would happen. 
For me I figure its time to buy new bras when that happens.

I'm between and an A and B. I do think the smaller cup looks better. But it is difficult to find an unlined cup. I'm always on the lookout for one. But most bras in the smaller cup sizes are lined with foam. It's a no go for me. The padding feels nice, and even looks nice, but I don't want to go out in public looking bigger than I am.

A smaller cup size I feel I spill out far too easily and a smaller band is my preferred go to. My true size should be a 36B but a 34C keeps my breasts pressed a bit more with quality support and shape still with no discomfort to myself in the day.

I can't get away with a smaller cup. Too much quad boob and trying to keep everything from falling out.

I have sometimes tried smaller cup bras as well, but not for the purpose of creating spillage. My go-to size is 40B and I prefer unlined bras. They always have a bit of spare room in them. I've been sh!t out of luck every time I've tried an A-cup bra because they were from different manufacturers and happened to run large! 🙄

Try a Bali 6543 Lace Desire.  Soft cup with no foam.  Molded cups don't work for me, I don't fill the upper part of the cup.  I am a 42B but I can get away with wearing my wife's 42Cs.  Once you get past 40, it is hard to find a B cup.  Kind of girly but it fits.

I wouldn't get too hung up about bra size as they vary so much between brands and styles.  My drawer contains bras in the following sizes. 34B, 34C, 34D, 36A and 36B.  All of these fit.. My average size would be 34C. My larger cup sizes are usually demi cup or balconette styles.

Even from my very first bra fitting, I have heard the same thing. I was 16 years old, the fitter came to the changing room after measuring me and brought back 3 bras. Two of which were 34C and the other was a 34D. I said something like wow!, a 34D?. She said that it is not the size that is important, it's the fit. I've heard that several times at bra fittings since then over the years.

That's not uncommon. I have D DD and F cup bras. That's why fitters will tell you, it's not the number and letter that matters, it's the fit and function and comfort that matter. You could have two bras that fit perfectly be two completely different labeled sizes. That's one of the big reasons 80% of all women wear the wrong size bra.They buy off of number and letter and not actual fit. My fitter friend has told me stories of women who would come in complaining about their bras, find they were wearing the wrong size, be fitted with the right size and say, "I am not that big" and buy the old size. It's a thing.

I recently dropped from a 46 band to a 44 band but my cup size is still an F. That means with sister sizing I have dropped one cup size. I'm wearing a 44 F at the moment and it's a perfect fit. But I have noticed even with the same brand certain styles of bras fit different and I might have some extra room in certain styles.

I have also found you must try them on.  The same manufacture, same cup size only in a different style, and the fit will be totally different.  
As it's been said, when buying new the cup size worn is only the starting point.

I have grown slowly this past 8 months to almost an inch in the bust. 

I was contemplating getting a few new replacements but now I hesitate due to the heat and humidity I will be moving to. Suggestions, as I run hot and have hot flashes.

Geez WPW, that's tough to answer as I've not been to central Tenn. I've only been to Memphis for any appreciable amount of time and found that in summer it's much like Orlando, hot and humid.

I am what my GF calls "hot blooded" as I help keep her warm during our infrequent cold spells :-) Hot and humid summer for me in southern Florida mandates light airy high percentage cotton everything, and under it I like an unlined thin strap bra (1 hook preferably, two at most), cotton tank, and light cotton Western style short sleeve shirt over it.  I def cannot wear a sports bra, or thick strapped 3 hook bra.

I've tried tube bras, sports bras, bralettes etc but they're sweat makers. 

I prefer unlined satin which is great from fall through spring as is all poly lace in cooler weather, front hook are lovely but finding unlined samples is difficult.
