My insurance is the day-centre, they are one in the same. I informed them that I had been wearing compression pantyhose for several months and that they are supposed to be paying for my compression garments. Their reply was that they provide compression socks and not stockings. I explained to them that this socks don’t work for me because my knees swell up making it hard to bend my knees. I had tried thigh highs however they tend to wear out and start rolling down. I even purchased a suspender belt to keep them up but got tired of it.
That’s when I switched over to compression pantyhose. Needless to say I was buying my own supplies as their socks are still sitting hanging in the closet.
I then spent about 3 months trying to convince them that my compression garments need to be compression pantyhose, and they should be paying for them. They said that they do not cover pantyhose because they are not approved medical devices and gender issues as well. They even sent me a certified letter stating as such.
I contacted their supplier and ask them if compression panty hoses were approved medical devices. I got a response from them acknowledging that they are and I passed that information on to my insurance.
After a morning meeting on the subject they finally approved the compression pantyhose. However when they went to set up an appointment with the supplier the supplier informed them that they were closing their doors. So again I was left buying my own.
They finally found a new supplier and I went in for my measuring yesterday. The guy was trying to sell me on socks and I informed him that socks don’t work for me nor do the thigh highs. The lady at the other desk stepped in and says, “what are you wearing at the moment?”
I informed her that I only wanted a compression stockings/pantyhose and I would not accept anything else and that is what exactly I had on. She informed me that they would have to order them as they don’t keep them in stock, but could accommodate.
After measuring me, she asked me what colors I wanted that they come in beige or black. She also hinted a pair in each color would be nice to change with outfits. So I opted for the second choice one of each.
The compression pantyhose will be shipped to me within 5 to 7 days.

At least in my country Germany there is absolutely no problem for a man getting a prescription of medical compression pantyhose. On the contrary. Most men don't like wearing garters with thigh high stockings, and stockings with a silicone band tend to go south, as you wrote, thus the only solution for many patients is pantyhose.

You MUST get a change of your gender from male to female in your ID! Perhaps in another state. In Germany every person can change the gender entry in the documents once a year. If I like, I could be a female within three months without any medical records or referrals. Or for women the other way round to a male. But it lasts at least a year. After this year you can change again, if you don't like your new gender.

A bra is just an article of clothing for people with breasts.

Texas is quite strange in ID gender cannot be changed. Luckily I wasn't born here so my birth certificate and social security has already been changed. Upon arriving in Oregon I will finally have a matching ID

The insurance fought me on the compression pantyhose basically because they didn't want to enable my gender dysphoria that I refused "treatment" for because they aimed to cure it. Regardless of being intersex.

Of course we are talking about a centre that has mandatory prayer meetings every morning for all staff before they start the day and religious services every Thursday all day for participants.

How is the move to Oregon coming along Birdie?  From what you've said before, I thought you were pursuing that possibility.  Texas obviously works for many folks, but certainly not for everyone... I guess we could say that about most states but Texas seems to be going out of its way to insert themselves into people's bedrooms and their lives in a pretty aggressive manner.  Life is too short to play those games if one doesn't need to.  Good luck my friend.

Very happy for you Birdie.  Life is too short to be battling other people's demons.  We have enough of our own.  Respect!
