My insurance is the day-centre, they are one in the same. I informed them that I had been wearing compression pantyhose for several months and that they are supposed to be paying for my compression garments. Their reply was that they provide compression socks and not stockings. I explained to them that this socks don’t work for me because my knees swell up making it hard to bend my knees. I had tried thigh highs however they tend to wear out and start rolling down. I even purchased a suspender belt to keep them up but got tired of it.That’s when I switched over to compression pantyhose. Needless to say I was buying my own supplies as their socks are still sitting hanging in the closet.
I then spent about 3 months trying to convince them that my compression garments need to be compression pantyhose, and they should be paying for them. They said that they do not cover pantyhose because they are not approved medical devices and gender issues as well. They even sent me a certified letter stating as such.
I contacted their supplier and ask them if compression panty hoses were approved medical devices. I got a response from them acknowledging that they are and I passed that information on to my insurance.
After a morning meeting on the subject they finally approved the compression pantyhose. However when they went to set up an appointment with the supplier the supplier informed them that they were closing their doors. So again I was left buying my own.
They finally found a new supplier and I went in for my measuring yesterday. The guy was trying to sell me on socks and I informed him that socks don’t work for me nor do the thigh highs. The lady at the other desk stepped in and says, “what are you wearing at the moment?”
I informed her that I only wanted a compression stockings/pantyhose and I would not accept anything else and that is what exactly I had on. She informed me that they would have to order them as they don’t keep them in stock, but could accommodate.
After measuring me, she asked me what colors I wanted that they come in beige or black. She also hinted a pair in each color would be nice to change with outfits. So I opted for the second choice one of each.
The compression pantyhose will be shipped to me within 5 to 7 days.
