Day 16 post-op

Wow! When you are pre-op and hear everyone post-op talking about swelling and scar tissue it doesn't really sink in. Trust me on this one - it will when you start to experience it!

So the last week has been a bit of a rollercoaster where the look of my chest is concerned. Whether it is swelling or scar tissue i dont know  ??? I think its the later though because its hard and lumpy and visible if i stretch my arms about my head. I've started massaging the area... too early? Anyway heres some pictures... i'd love some feedback because the look of the chest isnt ideal but i totally understand this is textbook healing and that it is going to take time ... lots of time! On the plus side... apart from a little scab like bit on the right the nipples are looking good...

--------------------------------------------
I took my plasters off at day 8 and showered normally (without plasters and letting water over the excision sites) from day 12. I am only wearing the compression vest(s) at night, from about 7 o'clock onwards and during the day i am wearing a nike compression vest, its not overly tight so i'm thinking of investing in something a bit tighter. I've started light cardio (2k jogging)and done a few light sets of arms twice from day 14 onwards. Swelling and what might be scar tissue have formed from about day 11-12. I can lift my arms over my head without any pain in my chest, there is a light stretching feeling that seems to be the bodies way of telling you not to overdo it!  I'm still taking Arnica and Bromlain (?) daily. My nipples still lack sensation and my left one seems to have trouble getting stimulated (hard) when rubbed or cold. I have started massaging from day 15. Pain in the chest is limited to the areas that seem to have hard tissue under the skin.

Bare in mind everyone heals differently so these times may be different for you but i hope that helps some guys who are planning to go through with the op get an idea of timescales.

Yeah its a bitch lol, you have the surgery and you come out flat! Then you have swelling and scar tissue which messes with your head a bit!  I had my surgery back in May and i still have a bit of scar tissue but it does go down with rigrous massaging and bio oil ive only really got any left on my RH Side now down the bottom of the chest and a lil but up the side

But it will go mate, swelling will be gone in a few weeks! The scar tissues down to the invidual unfortuantley so you cant really give a time limit on when it will go. But its really important that you start massaging on the 21st day with bio oil!

Dont let it get you down, it will heal and it will look like it did after the surgery :)

Karidis has just been on trisha talking about plastic surgery! Feel like ive been operated on by a celebrity lol

@thetodd - yeah its a pain. At this stage there is not much that can be done about it. I'm just trying to do the basics at the moment > massage, exercise and eating healthily... the rest is up to my body really. Yeah, i loved it when the people who knew asked about the surgery and i was able to tell them about Karadis and his celebrity side!  :)

@Mustoofee - glad to hear you are doing something about it. Keep us updated with your progress and before you know it you'll be post-op and be writing cheerful posts of your own.   ;D

:) >as you can see in the second picture i've tensed my chest and you can see the lump of scar tissue that has formed. The annoying thing is that it has developed around the nipple in a donut-like shape so it give the nipples a slightly inverted look. I can also feel a little going up towards the armpit scar. I suspect this is due to the connula from the lipo working from that area.

these were taken just after a message of the area... as you can see from the middle picture that due to where the tissue has formed it gives a divet impression around the nipple.

thanks for the feedback!

Ahhh its super mate.. i cant describe the feeling you get when you go through your wardrobe and try on all your old clothes and things you were afraid to wear. Or the feeling of waking up and not thinking about what to wear due to your chest. Its a real buzz and it has changed my life. I already feel more confident. I went out with some friends recently in a nicely fitted shirt... it wasn't until the next day i thought 'wait, i didn't think about my chest the whole night'. When i compare that to 2-3 months ago and how i would stand awkwardly and be conscious of people bumping into me or noticing it... its beyond words :D . Right now I'm sitting planning out my diet and exercise regime and it just feels like I'm about to go a new adventure in my life and there's nothing to hold me back, at the same time that means there's no excuses for me anymore so I'm really excited about life now... great!  ;D

hey niguy. the pics look great. the doughnut thing is exactly the same that has happened to me. i can feel a disk shape swelling behind my nipple which makes the nipple go inwards when i tense it. the feeling in my chest is coming back now and my nipples are burning at times! lol. well not that bad but from not having any feeling in the chest after the op and the feeling i get now is pretty awkward at times.

just a quick question.....i lost my arnica tablets! which ones do i buy from boots as they come in quite a few different forms / packages??? HELP!

I wouldn't worry about it, homeopathy is basically sugar pills anyway, they won't be doing anything apart from making your wallet lighter.

hey niguy, thank for that. i saw what you mean by the lip gloss thing! the tablets look very different to the ones karidis gave but im sure they must be the same thing....i hope.

kingboob- yes, i too am very sceptical about any drug / treatment, but i have read quite deep about arnica and it has been around for centuries. most surgeons advise it so im guessing it must have a little truth to it. i doubt its going to make a huge difference, but even if it helps 5-10% then it is something i guess. im not taking any other supplement although a few on here take bromelain but Dr. Karidis did not mention it so i guess ill stay away from it. my wallet is light enough!

Bro, I know I'm not you and I can't decide what you should and shouldn't be happy with... but scar tissue or no scar tissue, your chest looks great. In terms of the scar tissue going away that would only be a bonus - you look fine even if that shit persists forever (which it most likely won't). My surgery's in less than 24 hours so I'm looking through pre/post op pictures right now trying to get some confidence, and yours look fantastic.
