Gyno Sufferer for 4-5 years, what do I do?! 4MothsPostOpPics - Opinions? Pg.9!

Okay well phoned up hospital just now, said I want to go ahead with that date.. So 22nd of December it is guys. Going to go to doctors on friday(4th) and get my note for work. if anyone could give there thoughts on the areola reduction based on my pictures on the 3rd page tha would be appreciated, do you think I need it or will the natural shrinkage be suffice? If any of the doctors on here could input on that it'd be VERY much appreciated!

He's also part of the BAAPS, does he look good? Should I be confident about this? From what I can see it look as if he's got a good profile, but don't know if anyone with more knowledge cares to share there thoughts?

All i can comment on is that if you're having your surgery at a spire hospital is that the service and quality of the hospital is excellent. I had my gland excision done privately at spire hospital in the north east. If i were you i'd ask him directly how many gyno ops he's performed.

It's at Salisbury District Hospital on the NHS, think spire is only private ones? Well as far as I know anyway.

Op is in 3 weeks, don't know how I'd go about contacting him to ask how mayn he's done in that time?

Well op is exactly 2 weeks today, phoned up yesterday and she confirmed I had that date and I should get the details tomorrow I think in the post.. Someone from the hospital tried to contact me earlier but I wasn't in (brother took call, but didn't ask for name!) so hopefully they'll ring back soon and I'll find out what that's about, I think my brother said they might have needed to go to the hosptial but he wasn't too sure.

Here's some better pictures as my other ones seem to have gone down.. My nipples have wrinkled a little here as it's a bit cold, but not as much as they sometimes do.. However at there worst they look about 20% bigger and are puffier.. Do you think I need the areola reduction surgery? Any comments on my gyno or anyone whos had the operation who had a similar case? I tried to 'stretch' the nipple out a bit in one of the photos to give you an idea of the areola size at it's largest.

My nipples shrunk significantly after my op mate, although i didn't really have puffy nipples to the extreme i did have big nips and they defiantly went down after the operation. I certainly wouldn't consider an aerola reduction they wont be as pronounced once the glands reduced.

Its a fairly mild case expect some good results mate!

Ah I see, I don't really get puffy nipples much either, it's just there bigish sometimes but hey ho - 99.99% sure I'm going to say no to the areola reduction now. Letter came from hospital today confirming date etc, so now I guess it's just a matter of waiting until the date comes.. It did say on the letter that "You will be under the care of Mr S S Masood. However, your operation may be performed by a different consultant or a specialist registrar." which is a bit uneasing I suppose, hopefully that's just what they put as a safeguard and he will be doing the operation ( no one has mentioned upto this point so I will keep fingers crossed. )

Also think i'm going to go into work and tell them today, not sure how they'll respond etc but hopefully it'll go smoothly..

Just been into work to tell I won't be able to work for 2 weeks, was obviously not happy about it as christmas is a very busy time and telling them this late kind of messes things up for them.. But he wasn't bad about it, I told him I couldn't have it done another time etc. I said I'd rather not say what for and he respected that (told him it was an operation, but not what.)

Don't get areola reduction  reduction at the same time, wait and see how they shrink first.  The scarring will be obvious and they aren't that big anyway...... only slightly bigger than *normal*.


I had huge areolas before surgery and mine have shrunk a bit (they are still bigger than yours are now though).  I am considering a revision/reduction under local........ it is a hard choice to make because of the potential complications and scars making it very difficult to judge if the benefits out weigh the risks.

Yeah I'm going to leave it and see what happens. Just anxious about the operation now, wondering what the result will be! Biggest concern is scarring and actually getting a good result without any errors (craters etc). What should I do post surgery to minimize any visible scarring?

Ah okay it looks quite expensive but I guess it's worth it! Do you know if its okay to also use Vitamin E cream from massaging with this ?

I emailed his private secretary at spire hospital and she previosly said she couldn't give me his direct email without his permission, and didn't have access to his NHS records.. So I asked how many private operations he'd done this year and previosly for gynecomastia and also if she could provide pictures. Here's her response :-

"I am afraid Mr Masood keeps his own operating data and photographs.  From this year's diary however, he has not done any private gynaecomastia operations this year but he is relatively new to private practice so his private practice is not large. He has, however, been working as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in the NHS for a lot longer and is fully qualified as well as being a member of BAAPS which requires a minimum number of various cases to be logged before granting membership.  Not all Plastic Surgeons, by any means, qualify for membership.  He is also a member of BAPRAS.
 
Gynaecomastia is a relatively uncommon procedure, especially in private practice as it is obtainable on the NHS (unlike, for example, breast augmentations) and I have made enquiries of secretaries for Consultants with larger, more established private practices.  Their Consultants only do one or two per year.
 
I hope this is of assistance to you.  You will be in excellent hands."

So not totally inspiring, it's a shame she can't access his NHS files.. Does anyone know who I'd need to contact and how I'd contact them to find out how many NHS op's he'd done for this ? Baring in mind my op's on the 22nd so I need to find out pretty sharpish! Also the bolded statement seems a bit out to me tbh.. Based on what I've read on here etc.

Any advice on these, please put it foward!

Hey

The instructions say as soon as the gel is dry it is fine to apply other creams over the top.

I apply cream to scar and user a moisteriser on the chest muscle which i am now changing to bio oil to relax some of the scar tissue.

"I can not answer your questions by e -mail. I will see you before operation and answer your questions but if you want earlier answers,you please ring my secretarary
